Women Philanthropists Making an
Impact on Fidalgo Island: The Anacortes Women’s Giving Circle is about to launch its third year of collective giving, voting, and grantmaking to benefit the local community. The Giving Circle pools together smaller donations by its members to make larger grants to support and learn about community needs - creating meaningful impact. Women who live on or have a connection to Fidalgo Island and are ages 16 and up are eligible to join. Over the last two years, the Anacortes Women’s Giving Circle granted more than $44,000 to organizations supporting the years’ theme. In 2019, AWGC supported Women & Children with grants to the Anacortes Boys & Girls Club, Anacortes Food-to-Go, Friends of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands, Anacortes Community Health Council, and Skagit Habitat for Humanity. Last year, the theme was Covid Relief and grants were made to the Anacortes Family Center, Skagit Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services, Youth Dynamics, Brigid Collins Family Support Center, Friends of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands, and the Salish Sea School.
