On May 17th, 2024, Owen Benjamin Morton passed away due to internal bleeding complications after a terrible dirt bike accident at Hannegan Speedway on May 16th.
At just 14 years old, he was thrilled to get into racing. Owen embraced every bit of falling down and getting back up at the track, supported by his best friends Rhyder and Elliot. Owen was silly, witty, and charming to be around. He was kind and sensitive. He loved playing percussion in jazz band and enjoyed all different kinds of music. Owen looked forward to his bass guitar lessons.
In honor of Owen's memory and his zest for life, Owen's father Benjamin has established the Owen Morton's Foundation, in partnership and under the nonprofit umbrella of the Skagit Community Foundation. Owen's Foundation will provide financial assistance to the families of injured young motocross riders for medical bills. Additionally, it will provide good quality riding gear for kids who forgot theirs on race day or cannot afford it, to promote safe practices within the sport.
Through the Owen Morton's Foundation, we hope to keep his spirit alive and make a positive impact on the lives of other young riders. Your generous contributions will help achieve these goals and honor Owen's life.
