The Sidney S. Mcintyre, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
ABOUT
The Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. Memorial Scholarship was established by his son Jack and his wife Shirley McIntyre in honor of his father's legacy. Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. served his community as a school board member, city councilman, and civic leader. His ingenuity and hard work built Skagit Steel & Iron Works, later known as Skagit Corporation, into one of the county’s major employers. Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. lived in Sedro-Woolley for over 70 years. He died in 1972 at the age of 79. This Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in his memory to help young people achieve a college education in order to serve their communities.

FUNDING AMOUNT
The Sidney S. McIntyre Sr. Memorial Scholarship is a four-year, full-ride "last-dollar-in" scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY
- To qualify for this scholarship, a student must have graduated from a Skagit County high school, preferably Sedro-Woolley, demonstrated the need for financial assistance, show promise of success in his or her chosen field and have good scholarship.
- The student must attend a public institution of higher education in the state of Washington.
- The applicant’s goals must be to obtain a bachelor’s degree and pursue a secure career. This scholarship is renewable for a maximum of 4 years (12 quarters or 8 semesters, whichever is applicable to the institution where the student is enrolled).
- The recipient must provide renewal paperwork each year to ensure their course of study fulfills the requirements and intent of the scholarship. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 grade point average with full-time student status.

- Statement of your financial needs for assistance (character limit: 1,000)
- List all community service, extracurricular activities, and prior awards
- Describe your paid and unpaid work experience
- Essay #1: Describe a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you (character limit: 2,500)
- Essay #2: Describe your academic goals (character limit: 1,000)
- Brief statement explaining what field of study you plan to pursue and why (character limit: 1,000)
- First page of Tax Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ (whichever applies) from parent(s)/guardian
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Description of any important situational information you think we should know (character limit: 500)
