Our Mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter.
We do this by:
  • providing customized options and services for donors
  • building and managing funds and permanent endowments for the community
  • supporting the nonprofit sector through grants and trainings
  • contributing leadership and civic engagement

Giving is Personal

We are here to support your ideas for the community and to make your giving experience simple, meaningful, and effective.

Grant awards are distributed based on donor intent, and each recipient is vetted to ensure that your donations are doing the most good to achieve your philanthropic goals.

Our History
In 1991, a small group of civic leaders in Anacortes envisioned a community foundation that could meet their hopes and dreams for a performing arts center. A concert fundraiser featuring Burl Ives and friends created the funds to establish the first endowment for a performing arts center that would become McIntyre Hall.

Donors also established endowments for libraries, parks, museums, scholarships and their favorite nonprofit organizations.

Today, the Skagit Community Foundation is one of more than 800 community foundations in the United States, dedicated to improving the lives of people in a defined geographic area. Community foundations bring together the visions, generosity, and resources of individuals, families, and businesses to support their local nonprofit sector.

I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life is service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

- Rabindranath Tagore
