Children of the Valley was founded in 2006 to serve under-resourced children and their families by valuing their cultural identity and empowering them through education, personal growth, and community.
This scholarship opportunity will be awarded to Children of the Valley alumni, current employees, or consistent volunteers who exhibit outstanding leadership abilities, and who are committed to developing those skills at college in order to make the world, and communities like Mount Vernon, better places.
The vision and purpose of the COV Dream Big Scholarship is to make higher education accessible, and help students in underserved communities make the dream of a college degree a reality.

Applicants must be alumni, current employees, or consistent volunteers of COV.

- Essay #1: How was COV part of your life and how did it make a difference in your life?
- Essay #2 Share about a hardship or time in your life that has made an impact on you and why?
- Essay #3: How do you see a college education being pivotal in your personal and professional goals?
- Essay #4: Describe something you are passionate about and why (in terms of field of study, sport, music, hobby, volunteer work, or a similar pursuit)
- High School Transcript and Cumulative GPA
- Did you participate in any college readiness programs? (examples: AVID, Gear-Up, Compass to Campus, Maestros Para El Pueblo, etc.)
- Signed Letter of Recommendation
