Honoring a Legacy of Kindness, Spirit, and Friendship
Established in 1992 by the family and friends of Molly Bliss Epstein, this meaningful award celebrates the qualities that Molly so naturally embodied--joyful spirit, genuine kindness, and heartfelt connection with others. Created in partnership with the Skagit Community Foundation, the award is a tribute to Molly and her legacy of warmth, generosity, and joy she brought to the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Each year, selected graduating seniors from Mount Vernon High School are honored with a surprise gift, an award based on teacher nominations — not for academic achievement or financial need, but for something more personal and lasting: their humanity.
Teachers are invited to recognize students who share Molly’s characteristics: a giving nature, the ability to build true friendships, a lighthearted and fun spirit, and an inner motivation guided by compassion.
This award was intentionally designed to shine a light on students who might otherwise go unnoticed, yet who bring warmth, thoughtfulness, and goodness into the lives of others—just as Molly did.
We invite you to explore, remember, and support this living tribute to Molly’s legacy.
