For many families in Skagit County, finding affordable, high-quality childcare is more than just a challenge - it's a barrier to stability, employment, and peace of mind.
Thanks to an anonymous donor and a dedicated group of local leaders, The Skagit Childcare Partnership Fund has emerged to help sustain vital support services for childcare providers. The Fund provides resources for local C-RECC staff, including a Bilingual Child Care Marketing & Recruitment Coordinator, to help both new and existing providers navigate licensing requirements, access grants, find capital, develop their workforce, and more.
The Center for Retention & Expansion of Child Care (C-RECC) began working in Skagit County in 2021 and has helped increase childcare capacity by 162 new slots across the County. The C-RECC Team has responded to the needs of 63 existing and prospective childcare providers, and has a waitlist of 40 more. To continue their work in Skagit County after the sunset of ARPA funds, The Skagit Childcare Partnership Fund was created to bridge the funding gap to continue supporting and investing in local childcare providers.
This work is a critical step in achieving long-term stabilization and expansion of the childcare sector in Skagit County, and greater access to quality care for local families.
