Donor Advised Funds

Establishing a donor-advised fund allows the donor to actively participate in the grantmaking process by periodically recommending how to use the gift. The Skagit Community Foundation verifies that the donor’s recommendations meet its grantmaking policies and that the grantee organization is a qualified public charity or governmental entity. The Foundation’s Board of Directors has final approval of these recommendations. Grant awards are issued to charities in the name of the fund (or anonymously if the donor prefers), and contributions to the fund qualify for income tax deductions in the year they are made.
